Diversity

Delia Saenz said that when we work with others on tasks, like classroom assignments or work projects, we gain the most knowledge when we are receptive to their contributions. Which is true because working with different people you learn a lot from them. It is a really good thing when you work with different people other then with your friends because we all know are friends and we need to get to know new people.

Diversity in ASU makes our experience more interesting because here at ASU are so many students from different places. Which it is great because you learn about their beliefs and their cultures.

I believe that being from the same place does not mean that we are the same. We all have different characteristics. But again some of us may have some similarities which is also great because we can enjoy doing things that we have in common together. Being different is a really great opportunity to learn from others. For example learn a new language, eat new food, and many other things. I am looking forward to meet new people and learn a lot from them!

Global Engagement

Global Engagement is very important to our community. I really did not think that we should not always have to worry about the place we live in but we should also worry about the other places that are close to us. Like Bud Rock said, "it’s important to realize that that someplace else, that larger world is part of the world in which you live." Bud Rock has a really good point because we should know that whatever is happening to the other place close to you may happen to the place where you live in. For example if Mexico has a certain disease then we might get the same disease soon because a lot of people from Mexico come here.

I belive that watching the news is really important because they tell us some important information. But again do not stay calm on the things they say, you should research more about the things that worry you. Many of us should become more globaly engage because by this way we can help with some issues that are going on right now.

Entrepreneurship/Creativity

To be honest I never knew the actual deffenition of entrepreneurship. I always though it was about money and business. But after the learning module I learned what it was. At ASU Dan O’Neill defines entrepreneurship as the spirit of creative risk taking. I also learned that we have to apply our creativity, innovation, knowledge, skills and passion in order to accomplish something we want. They are all important but the most imortant one is having PASSION.

I never though how important it is to be passionate on the things we want to do and on the things we like to do. I learned that with out passion you are not going to be able to get things done correctly and people are not going to enjoy them because we do not do them with passion. I believe that when we use our passion on things we do them better and enjoy doing them because they are coming out of our hearts.

We also need to know that when we start something we need to get it done. NEVER give up because we can always accomplish our wants and nothing can stop us!

ASU Library

Our ASU library is a great resource you can always use for your assignments. It has so many resources such as books, movies, articles, etc. ASU library website is also very helpful because you can actually trust the information it gives you. It is not like Wikipedia or Google. Using Wikipeida and Google is not a good choice to make because it will give you a really bad grade.
Dr. Carelock stated that the "library databases are filled with the stuff you need to write an "A" paper ,which I agree. I really do not get how people ignore our library I guess they really do not know how useful it is. I know for a fact that that if I use our ASU library for my research papers and other assignments I will definitely will get a good grade. :)
I really recommend all of you students to use the library and if you do not know how you can always ask for help because it is really important for all of us to know how to use it!
Remember the library is our friend!

Academic Integrity

Academic integrity is very important at Arizona State University, not only here but everywhere. Us college students should be more responsible and should know that cheating is a huge mistake you can ever do. Cheating can cause very serious problems, not only to you but to the people who are around you. Always think twice before committing this kind of mistake.

As Joe Bunker stated on the presentation “integrity is what we do, what we say and what we say we do.” It is basically telling us that academic integrity “matters”. Also always keep in mind the consequences cheating can lead to. For example if you ever get caught cheating, which in ASU you always will; you will automatically get an XE on you transcripts and the professors and your college will give you another penalty. Remember that you also may be expelled.

As you can see being honest is very important. It can lead you to better things in life and even help you on your future. Keep in mind how hard you worked to get here; do not lie to yourselves by cheating.

Succeeding in ASU

There are many ways to succeed in ASU. The most important step you will have to take is knowing how to manage your time. Another step is attend class, not only physical but mentally as well. Finally introduce yourself to all your instructures.

Managing your time is very important at all times, not only because im saying it but all your instuctors will say it as well. For example my MAT 117 teacher she is always telling me "Jazmin if you want to succeed and get good grades, know how to manage your time and you will live in college." Managing your time is not only for your homework and study time it is also managing time for yourself. For example knowing when you are going to have time to hang out with your friends etc. If you manage your time you will succeed in ASU.

Attending class is a must, not only physical but mentally as welll. I know that there is some student who attend class but never pay attention which cause them to not know what is going on, DON'T do this! Always go to class and pay attention, ask questions when you don't get somenthing or need help; never hesitate to ask for help, I learned that they love when we ask questions because they know that we are interested on learning.

Feel free to introduce yourself by doing this it will help your instructor to get to know who you are. Also introducing yourself will help to have some resumes incase if you need any. It is very important to know your proffessors, thats why always read their syllabus and their office hours. In case if your shy, send them an email and introduce yourself even though I think it's better to do in person because they actually see your face.

As you already read, now you know that managing your time, attending class and introducing yourself to the instructures are some steps you will have to take in order to succeed in ASU.
